San Roque
San Roque has a very Andalusian appearance, with a beautiful old city centre full of steep streets, balconies with 'rejas' with flowers, and whitewashed courtyards.
The old part of San Roque has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument. Its houses with their original artistic metal work and woodwork as with the notable government buildings.
In the municipality of San Roque there is the mouth of the Guadiaro river and the Torreguadiaro Lagoon which are two ecological areas of great interest for watching migrating birds.
Tarifa
Of Arabian structure, with narrow streets and surrounded by walls, it still preserves, however, its most genuine customs and traditions of the Andalusian villages.
Its traditional economic activity is that of fishing. Its inhabitants use the 'Almadraba' system especially for the capture of tuna fish and bonito.
However, through windsurfing, a new world of boutiques, specialized shops, pubs, restaurants, work shops, craftsmen, etc. has been born, giving Tarifa an extraordinary young and extremely lively atmosphere.
From here you can also catch a fast ferry to Tangiers, Morocco.
Castellar de la Frontera
From the walls of its castle, one dominates a wonderful landscape, with the reservoir of the river Guadarranque at its feet. On bright days, one can even see, looking south, the African coast and, looking north, the white villages of the Mountain Range of Málaga.

Jimena de la Frontera
This beautiful village was declared Monumental Site, due to its historical tradition, its natural beauty and its superb preservation.
Jimena has abundant cattle, orange and tropical fruits crops, and vast cork oak forests. In its surroundings there is big and small game, horseback riding tours can be organized. Jimena is for the lovers of history and nature a real paradise for relaxation.
Other Areas Close to Sotogrande
In the direct surroundings of Sotogrande we have various small villages inland amongst those there are San Enrique and San Martin de Tesorillo where you can find the normal infrastructure of small shops bars and restaurants.
San Enrique
This village is becoming the centre of Polo in the area, quite frequently you can drive through and encounter a string of Polo ponies being moved from the San Enrique Polo grounds to the Iron bridge Polo grounds.
San Martin de Tesorillo
A very rich village due to its fertile agricultural land and its many orange groves. The square is the centre of the village where everybody meets and where you can buy, eat and drink in the various establishments available. It is part of the municipality of Jimena de la Frontera.
